An Open National Conversation About Firearms

The Democratic Party unveiled its formal 2012 platform calling for an open national conversation about firearms.

“We believe that the right to own firearms is subject to reasonable regulation. We understand the terrible consequences of gun violence; it serves as a reminder that life is fragile, and our time here is limited and precious. We believe in an honest, open national conversation about firearms.”

As a violence policy advocate I support having reasoned discourse about common sense gun laws that will register and eventually disarm the public though no one is talking about handgun bans.

You can support this reasoned discourse by following HeyHeyNRA on twitter at:

Please remember that Tea Party NRA extremists are incapable of civil debate because they are compensating for some other shortcoming. Remember to take the high road when dealing with them and by lighting a candle you can amplify our voices and grow stronger in number, courage, and creativity, and end the tyranny of the NRA and guns violence, now.

Aw, this was a very nice post. Taking the time and actual effort to produce a really good article… but what can I say… I
procrastinate a lot and don’t manage to get nearly anything done.
